Frequently asked questions.
Do I need to hire an Architect or Designer to design my home?
No, as long as you can obtain the permits necessary to build and successfully meet all of the buildings codes you do not need to hire an architect or home designer. But there are a lot of reasons why you should at least consider working with one (more on that below).
Why should I hire an Architect or a Home Designer?
While Architects and Home Designers will charge a fee for their services, keep in mind that most home building companies will be charging you design fees as well. Often built into or hid in along with other costs. More importantly, working with a designer provides a buffer between you and the contractor building the home. It is our job to ensure that the integrity of the design, and adherence to the budget, are maintained as closely as possible. A new building project, whether it be a home, renovation, or commercial construction, should be an exciting process, and not a stressful scenario where you end up with a completed project that doesn’t match what you wanted, or is way over budget.
Is working with an Architect or Home Designer expensive?
It doesn’t have to be! If we can quickly establish what the project needs to include and limit the number of alterations, or more importantly, iterations, then it can be relatively inexpensive. The overall size of the project, and complexity of the designed elements will influence the design costs as well. Keep in mind the higher the level of detail in the design, the fewer surprises there are when it’s built. If you want a basic drawing set with just the major components drawn out, it will certainly keep your design costs low, but the completed project may look nothing like what you had in mind.
How do I hire an Architect or Home Designer?
Send us a message! We start with a basic assessment of the project. If we think we can be of service and match the project’s timelines with our current capacity, then we’ll set up a meeting and progress from there.
